About JAHE

A public-private platform connecting Japan and the world through education

What JAHE is, why it exists, and how it works with partners in Japan and around the world.

Japan Alliance for Holistic Education (JAHE) is a public-private platform that connects the knowledge, technologies, and practices accumulated through Japan’s education system with the world. Our aim is to help address educational challenges in different countries and create opportunities for children to achieve richer and more fulfilling development.

Building on the four dimensions that Japanese education has traditionally valued — knowledge, character, physical well-being, and health and nutrition — JAHE brings together companies, universities, research institutions, NGOs, government agencies, and other stakeholders, each contributing their own expertise and strengths.

JAHE also works with overseas governments and ministries of education, international organizations, educational institutions, companies, and other partners to develop concrete international education projects — from policy dialogue and needs assessment to pilot projects, research, educational programs, and business development.

A bridge between Japan’s expertise and the needs of communities worldwide

Japan has accumulated a wealth of knowledge and practical experience that can be shared with the world — not only in developing cognitive skills through core academic subjects, but also in fostering non-cognitive skills through a broad approach to school education, including school meals and food education, school health, ICT, physical education, music, and the arts.

At the same time, from an international perspective, it can be difficult to understand who in Japan can offer what expertise and solutions, and what achievements and evidence of impact they have. Individual companies and organizations may also face challenges in developing partnerships with overseas governments and educational institutions.

JAHE serves as a bridge between Japan’s educational knowledge and expertise and the educational challenges and needs of communities around the world.

A society where every child has access to holistic education that nurtures not only academic abilities, but also the mind, body, health, and nutrition, enabling every child to realize their full potential.

Beyond achieving educational outcomes, we work together to create the systems and structures that enable education to take root, continue, and evolve within local communities.

This is the vision of international educational collaboration that JAHE seeks to realize.

Mission

To share the knowledge and practices accumulated through Japanese education with the world, help address educational challenges in different countries, and unlock the potential of every child.

JAHE does not seek to simply transfer Japanese education overseas. Instead, we place importance on co-creating new forms of education together with local partners, adapting them to each country’s culture, society, institutions, and needs.
